Hotel Seagate

The quick, efficient staff made our stay at Hotel Sea Gate in Velankanni even better. My wife, son, and I found the rooms neat and clean and felt very comfortable as a family. We enjoyed the swimming pool, and the restaurant’s food was delicious. I’d highly recommend it for a family visit.

The location is good, with all the churches within walking distance, and there’s parking, though it’s outdoors. We got our rooms quickly after check-in, but were disappointed once we saw them. They smelled damp and musty, looked very old, and didn’t feel worth ₹3500 for one night. Be careful opening the windows if you have kids, since there are no grilles. The bottled water was some local brand, and I wouldn’t drink it. The bathroom was the worst part, and the service wasn’t good either. The receptionist had too much attitude. There’s a lot to improve for the price they charge, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The room was decent, and the room service was excellent. Hotel Seagate is really close to most of the churches in Velankanni, so the location gets a 10 out of 10. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend it for a future stay.

The online booking was smooth, and notably, it didn’t ask for Aadhar or another ID proof. The actual stay was disappointing, though, with several problems left unresolved. Room 209 had a bathroom lock that wasn’t installed properly and didn’t work, which raised privacy and security concerns. The room also had a persistent unpleasant smell and poor hygiene. WiFi usually connected but showed “no internet access,” so it wasn’t reliable for work or browsing. The parking was the worst issue. The cars are fully exposed, and ours got covered in bird droppings. The hotel charges extra for cleaning, which is unacceptable given the parking conditions. A covered, clean parking area is badly needed. Restaurant prices were also extremely high for the food quality and service. I still haven’t received the GST bill, which I need right away. Basic amenities, cleanliness, upkeep, and WiFi all need major improvement before I could recommend this hotel.
