OYO 63756 Yercaud Residency

We stayed January 15-16, 2021, after making a sudden plan for Yercaud and not checking the reviews first. The only good thing is the location, right near the bus stand. We arrived at 1 pm but still had to wait an hour because the rooms weren’t cleaned. The staff weren’t cooperative, the washrooms smelled and had no ventilation, and the taps didn’t work properly. The place is so dirty, a new Corona type of virus could emerge from it one day. It seems to be frequented by unmarried couples booking rooms by the hour for cladestine s_e_x. I saw a lot of couples arrive and leave without luggage. Please don’t book this place, even if it’s free.

There’s often a very bad smell in the surroundings, and in my experience I haven’t come across a hotel this bad. Maintenance is poor, and they have a lot of rules. Staff don’t respond properly to customers and won’t even provide an extra bedsheet and pillow. If they do provide them, they charge Rs. 200/-, which is too expensive.

The bus terminal nearby gets really loud and busy, so ask for a room on the SOUTH side. Mine was roomy and had what I needed for a two-day stopover, with a light, airy feel and Wi-Fi that worked when it felt like it. The manager was very friendly and, after I asked, changed the pillowcases and sheet. Hot water starts at 8am. I did have to haggle over the room rate.

The service was poor, and getting a response to requests was difficult, though the staff did try to be kind. The rooms were very dirty. There was no heater, and the toilet lights in all rooms were off at night, which made it seem like they were limiting power use. The cots were in bad, deteriorated condition, and the blankets were so old they looked like they might date from when the business opened.
