Basra’s history, culture, and modern life come through in the hotel’s facilities, services, and style. The hotel is amazing. Staff were helpful and friendly, and it seemed management had put care into choosing good quality, with the aim of getting a positive response from customers.

When I stayed here in 1997, back when it was still the Sheraton, the rooms were clean and the service was top notch. The pool looked a little cloudy, but those were the days of sanctions, and I’m sure chlorine was hard to get. The staff were friendly all around, and the service was the best. People in southern Iraq are very hospitable. This was by far the best hotel to stay at in Basra.

The hotel is generally clean, and the room was spacious. Breakfast was good too. Although it’s on the corniche, the view from my room wasn’t great. The window wouldn’t open and was dirty, so I couldn’t get a good picture of the new bridge. Security to enter the hotel is very tight.

The room was spacious, clean, and well equipped, and the staff were friendly. There’s an open-air pool and a fitness center with dry and steam saunas. Breakfast was a generous buffet. The location on the banks of Shatt AL Arab is great.

Its position right on the Shat Al-Arab river is one of the best in Basrah, and the building has a very nice design. It’s one of the city’s biggest hotels and has a long history. I liked the interior decoration, though it could use more improvement. Prices are high for the quality of service.
