Arg Shiraz Hotel

Breakfast was a real highlight, with plenty of tasty choices. The rooftop coffee shop has a lovely atmosphere too, though it’s expensive. Lunch at the restaurant was very good, but relatively pricey, and dinner wasn’t good. The rooms are on the small side, but they’re clean and come with a tea maker, minibar, refrigerator, and full bathroom supplies. Staff were polite and helpful when dealing with problems. I thought the hotel was very good.

The Wi-Fi was weak, and the front desk wasn't very helpful about it. I had to really push to get a second access code, since they only provided one for the room. On the plus side, the location is central, the rooms are spacious and modern, and breakfast has a lot of options.

A couple of service issues came up during my three-night stay. Room cleaning only runs until noon, so if you need it done later in the day, you have to wait until the following morning. The safe also wasn't fixed the night I arrived. I brought it up again the next morning, and then it was sorted out. The stay was still quite pleasant. Staff were friendly and polite, the rooms were a decent size, and most have twin beds. The amenities were fine, and the shower was the best I've had, with great water pressure for a comfortable winter shower. Breakfast was adequate for a hotel of this size and standard.

The internet was my main frustration. It mostly worked, but dropped several times in an hour. On my last night I couldn't log in at all, and the receptionist wasn't able to fix it. The neighborhood can also feel a little scary at night because it's dark and quiet, though it wasn't a major issue. Otherwise, my four nights at Arg Hotel were amazing. The receptionists were always smiling and welcoming, handled problems right away, and spoke very good English, so communication was easy. The hotel is near the bazaar and castle, with pretty much everything within a 30-minute walk. My room wasn't especially spacious, but it was fine for a solo traveler. There was no bathroom outlet for my own hairdryer, so I had to use it in the room. Even though I'd asked not to be disturbed during housekeeping, the cleaners kindly checked if I needed shower gel, toilet paper, towels, or other refills. They packed them neatly in a bag with two bottles of water, which was lovely. The rooftop cafe is beautiful and serves fast food, coffee, tea, and shisha until 10 pm. I arrived too late to try the shisha. Without a local debit card, you can pay cash there or ask the waiter to charge it to your room. A single room was 1000k toman. I'd previously stayed at another hotel for twice the price, and everything there was much worse. I'm very happy with my choice in Shiraz.
