Hotel Natur

We had dinner at the hotel, where the buffet was pleasant, although a little pricey and not especially varied. Breakfast was nice, too, but nothing remarkable. What I especially appreciated was how readily the staff helped when we asked one evening to switch off the outdoor lights so we could look for the Northern Lights. They welcomed us warmly and were helpful throughout. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out. Just outside Akureyri, the hotel is still close to town, with lovely views from the room and hiking options nearby. There’s also a spa included in the price and a billiard table, both welcome on cold Icelandic evenings. We really enjoyed our stay.

Gorgeous setting, lovely views, and really peaceful. The place was cozy and had everything we needed. Check-in was easy, and the staff were so nice. Would definitely recommend.

Breakfast was good, and for a one-night stop this was a nice place. We were near reception, but noise wasn’t really an issue. The bathrooms felt a bit cramped, and the water smelled strongly of sulfur compared with the other hotels we stayed in. The sauna was small and could only fit a few people. It’s a little out of town, though only about a ten-minute drive.

We’re still here as I write this, and it’s been great. The owner was especially helpful when our rental car wouldn’t start and tried to sort things out with us. The staff are friendly, the rooms are spacious with a view, and the location is hard to beat. Breakfast has been the best we’ve had in Iceland. The hot tub and sauna are free to use, and we also saw the Northern Lights from the tower, which was a bonus. If you’re going to the Diamant Circle, bear in mind that April snowstorms can make the drive much longer than expected. I’d recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
