The room itself was really nicely done, with a comfortable bed, and the price was fantastic value. Check-in was easy even after hours, just pick up the key on a hook with your name on it. Parking right outside was easy. The downsides were no kitchen access, creaky floors, dated-looking hallways, and a single-room door only about five feet tall. The WC in the basement was much better for showers and had more sinks, while the toilets near the rooms were easy to reach.

The owners made me feel right at home, and the room and bathrooms were very clean. It’s right in central Blönduós, with a beach behind the house. I saw the best auroras I’ve ever seen from here. This was my first time staying in a guesthouse, and it was excellent.

The location is handy, close to the main island ring, so getting here doesn’t add time to your trip. Check-in was easy with clear instructions, and the new host was friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful, with nice common areas where you can eat your own food. You can’t cook in the kitchen, only use it for eating ready-made meals, but tea, coffee, and cookies are free. The rooms are warm, though they have an old smell. Not being able to cook was my main downside, which I understand given the affordable price. For the money, I got much more than expected, even though things aren’t perfect. A very nice experience. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could, but since I can’t, it’s closer to five than four for me.

The owners were really friendly, and the guesthouse is right in the center of Blondous. We found free parking just outside. The place could use a renovation, though. The beds weren’t very comfortable, the bathrooms could be better, and our ground-floor room smelled of the nearby kitchen when we checked in. The heater wasn’t working, so staff brought a portable one, which we had to fit into an already cramped room. There was a wardrobe, but not enough space to open it fully. Guests can’t cook in the kitchen, but can use the tea, coffee, toaster, microwave, fridge, and kettle. You’re also allowed to sit in the restaurant to eat.
