Borealis Lodges

We loved having the cat and doggies around. The rooms were warm and had hot water, and breakfast was wonderful. The common areas are beautiful too. We got lucky and caught a glimpse of the northern lights at the end of December.

We had brunch at the hotel. The food and drinks were outstanding and really good quality. Staff were polite, helpful, and spoke German and English. I’d recommend the food, drinks, and hospitality.

Breakfast was a little limited, though that makes sense for a smaller hotel. There was toast, some cured meat, salad, cereal, and a hard-boiled egg. The rooms and facilities were great, and the outdoor hot tub was available. The place is handy for Golden Circle attractions, and we had a comfortable night’s rest. You can see the Northern Lights when conditions are right, but for good photos, go somewhere darker because the buildings create a bit of light pollution.

The staff were so friendly, and even pointed us outside to see the northern lights. The lobby and room were decorated so lovely, and the place felt cosy, like home. Best hotel we stayed at on our Iceland trip!
