Mr. Gunnarsson was quick to help when we got locked out or left our backpacks behind, and he gave us plenty of useful tips. We really appreciated it. We spent three lovely days around Hostel Gimli in Dalvik, where the welcome was warm and the place felt homey. The fish soup is legendary, served in a lovely tavern that’s well worth visiting. Thanks so much, and see you next time!

I ended up here to get out of the rain during a camping trip, and had a really good stay. The host was lovely, my single room was comfortable for sleeping, and the hot water, WiFi, and other facilities were just right. Shops and restaurants are nearby, and hiking trails start in the hills behind the place.

The place was clean and pleasant, with a beautiful view and a great location. There were plenty of local maps and information brochures at the property, and the host was helpful and nice. Highly recommended!

Make sure you head upstairs for the view. It’s a cozy, beautiful place, run by a welcoming couple, and they treated us with real kindness and understanding. Thanks for all the help. Takk fyryr vinurminn 🙏 And get the fish soup and a kaffi downstairs, then have a look at the beautiful theater.

The room was warm, clean, and welcoming, and the town is beautiful. Bjarni was really understanding and let me stay even though it was a closure day. This deserves 5 stars only because I can’t give it 6 or 7. If you’re on this side of Iceland, spend some time in Dalvik and at the Gimli Hostel.
