Vínland Cottage

It was a quiet place with good comfort, friendly staff, and a good location. The space had what a traveler might need, including a microwave, coffee maker, and excellent table. But when we showered, an unbearable smell came up and we had to air out the room right away. Support said it was a water issue and that heating the water caused the smell. We still thought it might be sewage.

We booked Vinland Cottage hoping to watch the Northern Lights from the terrace, but the public lighting directly in front of the house makes that impossible. You have to go elsewhere to see anything in a dark sky. At 350€/night, the place felt shabby and very poorly maintained. The laminate through the living room and kitchen has come loose from the subfloor, so it feels like walking on a balloon. The oven, stove, and drawer interiors were dirty; the Teflon pots and pan were badly scratched, and the kitchen cabinet handles were sticky. There was no soap in the shower, and the lights above the counter didn't work.

For a bit more money, you can get a better equipped room in the area. Ours had a microwave, kettle, and fridge, but only the microwave worked. I tried calling and messaging the property and got no response, so good luck with your stay. Given the price and what you actually get, I can't recommend it.

The location was amazing, definitely 5/5, and I appreciated how clean and comfortable the hotel was. The Wi-Fi didn't work while I was there, though, which is a big drawback if you need it for work or planning. If they fix that, it could easily be a five-star stay.
