Hunkubakkar Guesthouse

After a nighttime drive, my cousin and I needed somewhere at the last minute. The person who answered the phone was kind and made it easy for us to book on short notice. The guesthouse was cute and cosy, and we woke up to a nice view.

Such a lovely little guesthouse, and the staff were so friendly. They even went out of their way to put together breakfast for us to take along when we had to leave early the next day. We also enjoyed the relaxing common room and the restaurant. I loved this place!

Kasper, the manager, was especially helpful. Even while busy looking after guests, he arranged the room we wanted and ordered dinner for us, then brought it right to our room. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The cottages are spread through peaceful, beautiful natural surroundings in the tourist area near Kirkjubæjarklaustur canyan. Highly recommended.

The dinner was good, especially the lamb, and the staff were accommodating when we arrived. Breakfast, though, was a real letdown. This was the 12th BnB on our trip and easily the worst: just basic ham and cheese put on a plate straight from packets, large cartons of yogurt, and spreads in their little plastic tubs. Breakfasts at other farms had included locally made produce.
