Breakfast was good, and the location was very good too, below a waterfall with a lake above it. The walk up took about 15 minutes and had a few steep stretches, but it was definitely worth seeing. The guesthouse is split between separate buildings. Our rooms were quite small, the bathroom was tiny, and cleanliness was only acceptable at best.

The waterfall behind the accommodation is a lovely feature, just a three-minute walk along a path, and the room was clean. There was a kettle out in the lobby. Breakfast was poor and served as a fixed plate: one croissant, one slice of bacon, one slice of cheese, two cucumber slices, an egg, two slices of wholemeal toast, 10g of butter, 10g of orange jam, orange juice, and an apple. When we asked for extra bacon, we were told each person gets only one slice; they also had no other jam flavour. If you won't eat some of those items, breakfast here isn't worth booking, especially since other places at the same price offer better breakfasts. A bathroom sign asked guests to keep showers to five minutes so there'd be enough hot water for everyone. There were no toiletries in the room either. It didn't feel hospitable.

The room itself did feel clean, which is why I gave it two stars instead of one. The place is a strange collection of buildings and doesn't feel like a regular hotel, almost more like a hostel. It was even more bizarre than I expected, and very expensive for what the room was, though I guess the location has a lot to do with the price. For breakfast, they hand you a plate when you come in, rather than having a buffet. It had subpar breads, a boiled egg, and a little cheese. I'd bring food instead; the fixed plates seemed to create a lot of unnecessary waste.

At the restaurant, I ordered a 30 cm (12 in) pizza and got one no more than 20 cm across. By area and amount of food, it was half the size. They admitted it, but the price stayed the same and we couldn't reach an agreement. The food went in the garbage, and I left. This is just one of many examples of possible cheating in Iceland, from parking and hotels to flights, drinks, and food. I'm definitely not visiting the country again. Breakfast was also very basic, served on plates with mostly things I don't eat, and there was no room to negotiate. What was I supposed to do, maybe not stay here?

The room and shower were clean for the price, the bed was comfortable, and we were right by a beautiful foss. The staff made us feel welcome, and the restaurant across the street had some of the best food we’ve ever had. Breakfast was ready when we walked in, with plenty of bread and cereal choices; the croissant and cheese were especially tasty. Fresh coffee, and a few kinds of milk and sugar too. We were only there for one night, but really enjoyed it. I don’t know what everyone else is complaining about.
