1A Guesthouse

The rooms looked out over the meadows and felt spacious, and our family of four had a comfortable, home-like stay for two days in the two rooms. They had warm beds and the things we needed, plus a kettle, tea, shower gel and shampoo in each one. There’s no coffee on site, but another hotel is a two-minute walk away for coffee, breakfast or dinner, which helps since Selfoss is a long drive. We were greeted with a handwritten note and a warm welcome in this quiet, cozy farm setting. There’s also a Tesla charger, two friendly cats and horses roaming around. We really enjoyed it and recommend the place.

The hostess was kind and welcoming, and the room was clean and comfortable with its own bathroom. It had all the amenities, and the WiFi worked great. I’d give it more than five stars if I could. Highly recommended.

Our flight got in early, so we reached the accommodation around 4am. The host let us check out late at no extra charge. The room was cozy and comfortable, and the setting would be great for seeing the northern lights if the sky is clear.

The unlimited juice and the coffee and chocolate machine were a real plus. With nothing around, it could also be a good place to watch the aurora borealis or northern lights. Still, the hosting felt cold, and this old farm is small, with too few bathrooms and rooms during the morning and evening rush. The room layout was poorly thought out: the light switch was behind a piece of furniture, the bed sat in the door’s path, and there was nowhere to hang clothes. Getting to bed meant twisting around, which might be fine for a child but not an adult. It felt arranged to maximize business over comfort. That’s just my opinion, though. Maybe the experience would differ at another time, or maybe we got the worst room in the guesthouse.
