We stayed here after finishing the Golden Circle and were able to see the northern lights. Someone let us know through a special WhatsApp group. The place was quiet and nice, and we were given a free room upgrade.

The room was decent for the price. Being out in the countryside gives you a good chance of seeing the northern lights, while Selfoss is still easy to reach, about 30 minutes at a slow driving pace.

We only stayed one night, but it was a really pleasant visit. Our room was in a converted barn, which felt unique and charming, and the shared bathrooms served no more than two or three rooms. We didn’t have time to meet the horses, so maybe that’s a reason to come back. The staff were welcoming and helpful when we arrived late. They explained the common areas, where games were available until 11 pm, and how breakfast worked, then showed us to our room. We could use the common-area coffee and hot chocolate machine from 7 am to 11 pm. They even heated our food and brought cutlery from the restaurant so we could eat there. Breakfast cost 15 EUR per person and had a wide choice: cereal, nuts, seeds, spreads, fresh bread, cheese, waffles, jams, and meat. It was excellent and worth it. The place felt friendly and homely, with great facilities for a comfortable countryside stay.

The only small drawback was the rather tiny bathroom. Otherwise, our two nights were thoroughly enjoyable. The hotel was quiet, the beds incredibly comfortable, and the open fields and grazing horses nearby gave the peaceful surroundings a special charm. It also worked perfectly as a base for day trips around both the Golden Circle and the southern coast. We arrived late, after the restaurant had closed, but the welcoming staff still prepared food for us. A calm, cozy stay in a beautiful location.
