Lágafell Guesthouse

We had a loft room with our own kitchen and shower room, and the place was clean and very nice. Breakfast was simple and good, though there was only one egg per person. The landlady kindly came to meet us after midnight and show us in. WiFi was strong :)

Our host hurried over late at night when we asked for a room, and did everything she could to settle us in. We even called the next day to ask if they could help another traveler who was stranded as we left town. The loft is the best, with a private bathroom and kitchen, a fridge stocked for breakfast, and windows on three sides plus a balcony where you can watch for the northern lights. This was our favorite guest house in Iceland. Lovely home, lovely people, lovely waterfront town.

The location worked well for our early flight from Keflavík, about a 20-minute drive away, and there’s an N1 station 500-750m away for fuel. The host was friendly and had lots of local suggestions; we tried her nearby Fish House Bar & Grill recommendation and it was excellent. Rooms are cozy and spacious, with two shared kitchen areas and fridges for guests. There are two bathrooms with showers. One could use some repair, but it worked fine.

Getting the key takes a phone call, which was the one small hassle. The hostel itself was warm and clean, with a really good breakfast. The staff were helpful and very friendly.
