We arrived to find we were the only guests, which was lucky. The room was lovely, and the shared kitchen, bathroom, and living room were very clean and well equipped. They had some cereal for breakfast too. The people were lovely, and even with the language barrier we felt very welcome. There’s also a lovely dog who lives with the family upstairs, outside the rented areas. The house and location are excellent. The village is beautiful and definitely worth a stroll. Make sure to visit the Sorcery and Witchcraft museum!

Three rooms had to share one bathroom and shower. We’ve had that setup before, but here there are no sinks in the bedrooms, and the toilet and shower are in the same room. Six adults sharing one toilet in the morning was too much. The shower also didn’t drain, so the person before us left the whole bathroom floor flooded. Our room got roasting hot because there were no heat controls, and the only way to cool it was a tiny window. We asked the owner to turn the heat down. She said her husband would do it later, but we sweated all night, even with the little window open and street light pouring in. It’s a dilapidated guesthouse in Holmavik. I wouldn’t recommend it, and we wouldn’t stay again.

The kitchen is well stocked, and the location is convenient. The building feels outdated and a little run down. There’s only one bathroom for the whole guesthouse, which could be inconvenient if all the rooms are full.

We stayed there in May and had a really good time. The rooms were nice and the beds amazing. Our host was very kind, and Holmavik is a lovely, calm, peaceful town to rest in. I’d come back if I could!
