The Fox Hostel

Wow, the kitchen was the best part, so big and nice, with everything you could think of. The hostel itself was beautiful, and we made friends with the women in our room almost immediately. The person at reception wasn't smiling or especially nice to us when we arrived. Still, we loved the place, and the aurora was so clear from the hostel. Best hostel we've stayed at in Iceland. We'll definitely come back.

The interior is simple but solidly done, and it had all the necessities. We had a great time staying there in winter, especially since the hostel was completely empty. We also saw the aurora there!

The showers were so nice, warm and with plenty of pressure, just right after coming back cold from a day out. There were enough toilets and showers, and the beds were super comfortable. The big kitchen had everything we could want, including a dishwasher. It's near the ring road via a nice gravel road, and the owner was super friendly, asking about our day when we got back. We talked for a while about Iceland and tourism, and ended up chatting politics too. Cool guy. Would stay again any time!

We were totally satisfied and would highly recommend the place. The hostel was quite new and clean, and our double bed room was very quiet because no one else was staying with us. I do wonder how noisy it might be when full during peak season. The big kitchen had lots of free things to use. The location was lovely, isolated from the ring road and up on a hill, with amazing views on a clear day.
