The spa staff were great, and once we booked the restaurant, the food was brilliant. The hotel’s decor is appealing, but a lot of the little things you expect from a 5* stay were missing. There was hair in the hair dryer, dead batteries in the weighing scales, and the minibar wasn’t filled. We paid extra for a private “jacuzzi,” but it didn’t work. It was basically an outdoor bath monitored by CCTV cameras. We booked the diamond suites, which are supposed to be 5*, but there was no room service, warm welcome, or atmosphere. If you stay over New Year, there’s no food, and it isn’t easy to find somewhere else nearby. We were told no food was available unless we booked the restaurant every day, and nobody explained otherwise. Reception staff were rude and abrupt. They’d keep talking among themselves and ignore us until they finished, leaving us standing there awkwardly. At first we thought it might be a culture thing, but everyone we met outside the hotel was really friendly. The service here was a serious letdown. It was our first trip to Iceland and we loved everything except the hotel. We wouldn’t book again. We’ve stayed all around Europe in 4 and 5 star places, and this was probably the worst one.

After our connection to the UK was cancelled, the staff at Hotel Keflavik turned a travel nightmare into something positive. They were so kind, and even arranged a driver to take us back to the airport for our flight the next day. I can’t thank them enough. The rooms were beautiful, with granite and marble, and the beds were very comfortable. The food was top notch, with options for the whole family.

Hotel Keflavík Diamond Suites made a lovely base, especially for a flight out of Reykjavík. It’s only about a five-minute drive from the airport, so getting there was easy and stress-free. The rooms were clean and stylish, with well-kept decor, and I found them comfortable after a busy day. I loved the interior design and artwork throughout the property, which gave the place a classy feel. The reception team were especially lovely, ready with help and recommendations. Other staff were generally nice and accommodating too. The outdoor café restaurant was a calm, inviting place to relax. I did wait more than 15 minutes for someone to take my order, though. The food was delicious once it arrived, and the staff stayed professional, even if they weren’t especially personable. Despite a few small service gaps, I had a pleasant stay in a beautiful setting, and I’d recommend it. I look forward to visiting again.

Our room was spacious and clean, everything worked, and we had a nice view of the harbour. The staff were exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to help. Special thanks to Neethu at the front counter and the team at Kef restaurant for making the stay memorable. A good place to spend a few days after arriving in Iceland or before heading home.

The whirlpool tub in my room was a hassle to use. It took ages to fill, and the controls didn’t make much sense. Still, I’d stay here again if the price were right. Hotel Management gave me a suite upgrade as a nice surprise, the decor was amazing, and the bed was quite comfortable. The food was fantastic and the staff acted professionally.
