Guesthouse Keflavik by Reykjavik Keflavik Airport

The room was rough: two sets of bunk beds, a strong sweat smell, and bedding and pillows so smelly that I wondered if they’d been washed. It was hard to sleep, and even with the windows closed you can hear every sound from outside. It felt more like an expensive hostel than a guesthouse, so I wouldn’t recommend it. There were some good points. The shared bathroom was very clean, parking was free, and breakfast had fresh fruit, pastries, and an espresso machine. The gentleman at the front desk was kind, and I was grateful he found us a room even though it was after hours and we had no reservation.

The room service staff stole my 100W phone charger and a €200 fragrance on the first day of my stay, which lasted less than a week in 2025. I tried several times to speak with the manager, but they didn’t care. I eventually threatened to call the police and tell everyone in the dining room there were thieves on the room service staff before he agreed to talk to me. He said only the cleaning staff had entered my room, but the employee said it wasn’t them. So who took my things, a troll? A big cat? Nobody apologized, returned anything, or compensated me. Instead, they tried to say I was lying. I was left without a phone charger in another country. Luckily, the cable was still in my car, so I could charge my phone while driving. The windows were also broken and wouldn’t close properly, letting cold wind in, so I had to leave the heater on all night. This place left me with a very bad impression of Iceland. The hotel staff were cheap and dishonest, and disrespected me by pretending I was lying. I hope the employee responsible faces justice for stealing from guests. I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to anyone. Very bad hotel, very bad people.

The house looked nice enough, but we couldn’t get our host to reply in time for check-in, so we found a nearby hotel instead. It was strange that they hadn’t sent any information ahead of time about how to get in.

The room was clean, if a little small, and the airport is just nine minutes away, which made getting there very convenient. It’s good value for the money. If you’re after a nicer environment, their hotel is opposite.
