Those pancakes were a real highlight of our stay. The host is quiet and gentle, but his care for hospitality comes through in how he welcomed us and tried to make us feel at home. He helped make our Iceland trip special, and we left with lovely memories.

The hosts didn't make us feel welcome, as they weren't friendly or attentive. The rooms themselves were decent, and having several bathrooms was convenient, though they could use renovation, a deep clean, and maintenance. Breakfast was very basic and not especially nourishing. For a single night, the stay was bearable.

The building may be old, but it was quiet and warm inside, and the price was good for somewhere so close to the center. Breakfast was very average, and it was served from 7 to 9 a.m. You couldn't take a sandwich for the road for free. The owner wasn't very nice or communicative, though he did try to keep out of the way. A few more smiles and a warmer welcome for arrivals would help, though maybe that's just his character. It wasn't a bad stay overall, so I gave it 4.

Harpa made us feel at home, and breakfast was superb. It was about an 18-minute trip from the centrum. A highlight was the nearly 185-year-old organ/harmonia, which Drishant Maharjan played in a concert. It felt like real Icelandic hospitality. Thanks, Alba GuestHouse. We'd definitely come back soon. We spent four days here as a group of three, and Alba and her husband were welcoming and helpful with suggestions for places to visit. Breakfast was excellent, with high-quality food, and the coffee kept us going on our island adventures. I saw some reviews describing Alba as cold, but that didn't match our experience. They were friendly, and I think their reserved manner is part of Icelandic culture.
