Breakfast was a real help with food costs, and they even brought me gluten-free toast since I'm gluten free. The service was great and friendly. We also appreciated the car parking garage, though it filled up quickly toward the end of the day. We were there in March, so I can imagine it gets busier in high season. The location was handy for tour pickups, at one end of the shopping strip, and everything was walkable. Harpa was no more than 20 minutes away. It was a great find on our trip to Iceland. I wished there had been a small fridge for leftovers. We couldn't bring food back because there was nowhere to keep it, though they stored my medication in their kitchen fridge. The bathroom had only basic hair and soap products, no washcloths or conditioner, so bring your own. The shower was small and had no panel, so water felt like it could get everywhere. The towel warming rack was nice, at least. We could hear traffic on the busy street and people above us, so it wasn't fully soundproof. We'd still consider staying here again.

Edit: I'd rate this a two-star hotel. The price doesn't match what you get. The staff weren't personable or helpful, the amenities were very basic, and you should look into parking ahead of time. We're still here, but if we could, we'd move to another hotel or an Airbnb. I can't recommend it. There isn't enough parking and there's no signage. When we arrived around 11pm, we pulled into the driveway, which connects to both city parking and the hotel garage. We parked to check in, planning to move the car afterward, but staff said the hotel lot was full. When we asked where else to park, they couldn't be bothered to help. We spent the next 20 minutes figuring out the city's parking zones, and trying to get the car out before the grace period ran out while checking in. The staff didn't know how long the grace period was or seem to know anything about the nearby parking lot.

The breakfast had a good spread of meats, cheeses, bread, cereal, and fresh fruit. The rooms were generously sized, and the complimentary coffee was lovely. Staff were amazing and so welcoming during my three-night stay in December 2025. The hotel bar also runs happy hour every day for two to three hours. It's on a fairly quiet street, a short walk from the seafront, shops, and harbor.

We wanted somewhere walkable with free parking to finish our Iceland trip, and Skuggi suited us well. The Winter Storm kept us from staying both nights, but once the roads opened we made the most of our time there. Booking through the hotel website seemed to give us the best value, and the front desk service was excellent. Breakfast was typical Icelandic style and well maintained. There were lots of dining choices nearby, along with Hallgrimskirkja, Rainbow Street, a laundromat, and Bonus grocery. We slept comfortably and would absolutely stay again.

The rooms were clean and a decent size, though there wasn't much clothing storage, so we had to leave one suitcase unpacked. Breakfast was decent, with ham, fish, bread, and yogurt options. Good location.
