The location made getting around easy. We were right on the high street, near takeaways, a 24 hour grocery shop, and the Turkish Kebab shop just around the corner, where we ate most evenings before heading out to look for the northern lights. Iceland is expensive, but the grocery shop had everything we needed. With our hire car, it was also convenient to leave the city, including when we wanted to reach Gulfoss waterfall by 10am and do the golden circle coming backways. Parking was free right by the entrance, with space for 6 to 7 cars, and we always found a spot. Hallgrimskirkja church and rainbow street were walkable too. We stayed for 3 nights, from 28th November to 1st December, 2025, in room no 323 on the 3rd floor. It was one of our best self-catering apartment experiences. The suite had one bedroom and a spacious open plan kitchen with a sofa cum bed. The kitchen impressed us: it had functional gas hobs, a powerful working owen, all the cutlery we needed, kitchen tissue, cooking pots, frying pans for omlet, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Everything worked as it should, which was a relief after a bad self-catering hotel experience in Dubrovnik in July, where we'd brought lots of Indian food to cook but the equipment didn't work. Fresh croissants and break were left outside the door every day. Breakfast was fine, though it could have been a bit better. From the balcony, we could see the sea and, behind it, mountains with beautiful glaciers. The view was very scenic. The apartment was clean and had good facilities and parking, and our stay was more than we expected. Our son loved that the television had Netflix and Utube so he could watch his Cash and Nico utuber. My wife played Bollywood songs while cooking, and I sat down with my Rum peg in the evenings. One suggestion for the owner: a video showing how to self check in with the access code would help. We were a little confused at first but figured it out, and the owner also helped two other guests who were confused about the code on following days. Sending a short demonstration video a week before guests fly in could make check-in quicker.
I've stayed there several times and been happy each time. The apartments are clean and nice, and I'd definitely recommend them.
We booked five nights through booking.com and really enjoyed our stay. The room had a nice view of the square and a kitchen with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven, and Nespresso capsule machine. There's a nearby discount grocery store, Bønus, plus plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The iconic church is close, and bus stops #12 and #13 for guided tours are just a few minutes away. The place is central, clean, modern, and quiet. There's no reception, but we got the building code by email before arriving. Honestly, there was very little to complain about. The only thing we missed was a dustpan and brush for cleanup, though I imagine you could ask the owner if you need something. We'd love to come back.
Lovely room in a great location, with everything we needed in it. The staff were helpful and sent all the necessary information before we arrived. Highly recommend :)
The location was the good part of our 3 night stay. There was no attendant to welcome us or hand over keys, no service desk, and everything was virtual. The entry codes came by email, and you use them to get into the building. We were also given half-filled shampoo bottles. A major problem was the lack of pictures of the superior rooms on booking.com. We looked at different photos and ended up in different rooms, so the pictures completely misled us.
