There were no bugs or animals in the room, and it was clean. That’s about the only positive. This was the worst “service” I’ve ever had. The door code never arrived before I got there. I found a phone number, but the person who answered didn’t speak English and couldn’t find my booking. I had to get Expedia involved to obtain the code and room key. They advertised breakfast in the lobby, but none was served. I contacted them right away, then waited over 72 hours for vouchers to a restaurant half a block away. By then I’d already spent more than $100 on breakfast items, and I only got breakfast on two of my five days. The coffee machine was broken the whole time, and coffee here costs $8-$10. The shared kitchen had no spoons or way to wash dishes. The dishwasher looked so disgusting I wouldn’t want to touch it. We ran out of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and toilet paper, and there was no way to contact anyone for refills, so I had to buy them at a grocery store. The “free parking” is around 20 spaces on the street. More than half are tow-away spots from 9-5, and about half of what remains is for buses or wheelchair users. That leaves maybe seven or eight spots. I had to park far away, pay out of pocket, and walk ten minutes. This isn’t a hotel: it has a communal fridge, no front desk, and self check-in. There’s nothing wrong with that setup, but the listing should be clearer, and it shouldn’t be called a two-star hotel. The water came out brown when I turned it on. I emailed for help and waited many days without a reply. Just terrible. Go somewhere else. It wasn’t even that cheap. If I were making up a story about how angry I am, I’d have included fewer problems to make it sound more believable.

Stay away. They’re proper scammers, taking your money. I couldn’t get hold of them, and they didn’t follow Booking’s free cancellation policy. They charged upfront, and it took months to get a refund. The only way I could get it was through my credit card provider. Horrible experience!!!

It’s a budget place, and the photos make it look nicer than it is. It was okay, but I expected much more from the pictures.

A few booking details weren’t clear: everything, including check-in, is self-service; there are no elevators, so it isn’t disability friendly; and the bathrooms are shared. Our room on the third floor was stifling and muggy, and we couldn’t sleep in the heat. We couldn’t get a fan. The building is dated, with stains everywhere. I’d only book this for an extremely budget motel experience.

It was a quiet, relaxing stay. The rooms are small but efficient, and I liked how organized the self-service setup was. There’s no reception; staff come in the morning to set up breakfast and check that things are in order, then leave. The entrance isn’t impressive, so you might not realize it’s a hotel from the outside. It seems more suited to solo travelers than families. Prices are high, though that’s like everything else in Iceland. I’d suggest the management change the hallway portraits, since they might not be appropriate for children.
