Day Dream Soleyjargata Apartments

We arrived late at night and had to find somewhere else to stay, which was really stressful. The booking listed free parking, but there was no parking available at all, and even the paid spaces were full. We’d booked this as the perfect place for our last two nights in Iceland, so the whole thing left us sad and disappointed. The apartment wasn’t at the listed address. It was in a different house on another street, and the moment we opened the door there was a strong mold smell. The bathroom had mold, the beds had hair and dirt, and the oven was dirty. There was no cover on the bathroom window, so someone on the street could see in while you showered. At first, when we contacted them, they didn’t believe us. In the end they let us leave with a full refund, but I still can’t understand why the booking site showed an address where you don’t actually stay. This has never happened to us before.

We had the whole apartment, which was really nice, and I had the private bathroom I needed. The beds were clean and comfortable, the heating worked well, and a hot shower took away all my tiredness. There’s free laundry and a dryer, too. The location was ideal for the marathon, very close to both the start and finish. The church is about 10 minutes away on foot, and the supermarket is a 15-minute walk.

The location made getting around easy: it’s two minutes from the bus station, around 10 minutes from the center, and five minutes from a beautiful park. We got quick replies, and check-in was simple with the information sent in a message. We could also check in early after asking, which was great. Our room was clean and cozy, with towels, a hairdryer, a fridge, coffee maker, and kettle. Having a private bathroom was a big bonus. There’s a kitchen with dishes, plus a downstairs storage room for suitcases if you need it. We’ll definitely come back.

It’s a nice apartment, not far from the town center and right across the road from the bus station. We got plenty of information before arriving after booking through Booking.com. There’s a shared kitchen for rooms that don’t have their own, and a washing machine and dryer are available.
