I Sleep Reykjavik Guesthouse

The house is in a quiet neighbourhood, with little street noise, and it’s an easy walk to central Reykjavik, shops, and restaurants. The beds were comfortable, and I slept fine with earplugs. The walls aren’t very thick, though, so noisy neighbours could be an issue. It’s an affordable, basic place to sleep. There was no reception, just an intercom where they asked for my reservation and then remotely unlocked the front door. The room was basic, the bathroom and toilet were shared, and there was a basic kitchen.

We came to visit the city and stayed for two days, then liked it enough to extend for another two. The room was warm and comfortable, there’s a shared kitchen with all kinds of ingredients and tools, and the manager is really friendly. Definitely coming back.

Being able to walk into the city centre was a real plus. The place was clean, if a little old, and the two kitchens were handy for making a small meal or breakfast. For what I paid, it was okay. If it had cost more, I’d have rated it three stars.

The owner was very helpful, easy to reach by phone, and speaks English. The place was clean, and the location worked well: the shopping street is walkable and bus stop 11 is about a seven-minute walk away. There are only two shared kitchens, and the bathrooms and toilets are shared too. I had a nice stay. I would have given it four stars, but the shared facilities brought me down to three. It would be better if the daily price were lower.
