The kitchenette was one of the best parts, fully equipped and handy for a longer stay when eating out in Reykjavík gets expensive. The bakery next door is another nice feature. There’s an interior door connecting it to the hotel, so you can pick up breakfast without going outside. The location is walkable to downtown, though staying a few minutes farther west would be more convenient. The room itself was okay, but Wi-Fi in Room 206 was weak, storage space was limited, and the TV was awkwardly placed. The bathroom’s sliding door leaves a gap and doesn’t seal fully, which makes privacy difficult if you’re sharing with friends. Getting in was a hassle. The hotel didn’t send the access details ahead of time, and since it’s self check-in, you can’t enter without them. Waiting outside in the January Reykjavík wind with luggage was miserable. It’s a solid no-frills stay that mostly met expectations, but these are real downsides.

The breakfast was a good continental spread, and excursion buses picked us up and dropped us off right outside at bus stop 16a. The staff were so kind, usually around at breakfast and in the evenings. Rooms were very tidy and clean, and the big cupboard on each floor was a thoughtful touch, with towels, pillows, tea and sugar to help yourself to. There was some noise at night from traffic on the main road, though it wasn’t anything to do with the hotel. They provide earplugs, which is useful if you’re a light sleeper. Even though it’s in Reykjavík, the city center where things are much busier is just under an hour on foot. We took a taxi down and didn’t realize a seven or eight minute ride would cost £25 to £30. It was our first time in Iceland. I’d probably stay closer to the center next time for convenience, but this wouldn’t put me off Iceland, and I’d recommend the hotel if you don’t mind the walk or aren’t planning to go into the center much. It’s a great hotel. We’re already planning our next trip. Thank you.

The location worked well, just a short walk to the city center, and the room was clean and tidy. It was handy having free coffee capsules and a storage room where we could get fresh towels and toilet paper. The entrance and room codes were convenient too, since we didn’t need a key or card. Our room had a kitchenette, but only one stool and a small desk, so sitting down to eat wasn’t easy. My parents’ room had a table and two chairs, but its toilet had a semi-transparent sliding door instead of a regular one.

We only had a tub in our room, which wasn’t ideal, but we made it work. The hotel was fantastic, a few blocks from downtown, and I’d happily stay there again. Highly recommend it.

The kitchenette saved us a lot of money, since food cost about four times as much as in the UK. It had cutlery, plates, pans, a chopping board, washing-up supplies, a dishwasher, two hobs and a combined oven and microwave. The TV also had BBC and ITV. The room was very clean, the beds were soft and comfortable with a beautiful blanket, and the bathroom had a fantastic shower. The location was good: about a 20-minute walk from the bus station, 10 minutes to the sea, 15 to the church and town center, and 30 to the harbour. One note, we booked through Icelandair and didn’t get the door code by email beforehand. The main door intercom worked great, though, and they gave us the code.
