Hafaldan HI Hostel - Harbour building

The bedroom and dining area had lovely views, which was about the only thing that made the stay worthwhile. The room felt uninviting, especially with the poor quality bed, and the shared bathrooms were awful, just shower curtains instead of proper doors. For what the hostel offers, I thought it was overpriced.

The rooms were decent, though the mattresses felt about like dorm mattresses and weren't especially comfortable. You get what you pay for. There are laundry machines, the showers are fine, and the hangout area has a really good atmosphere. Nothing fancy, just good vibes.

The kitchen and sitting area are the best part, with lovely decor, interesting souvenirs, and a great view of town. The wood-lined rooms feel cozy and comfortable, and the high ceilings mean you won't bump your head getting up. There's also a little sink in the room for brushing your teeth. The bathroom was clean and everything worked. The harbour building sits outside the town centre, about a 2-minute drive or a 15-minute walk away. If hostel noise makes it hard to sleep, there's a small basket of earplugs on one of the shelves.

Everything was clean, well organized, and the facilities were all I needed. Check which branch you're booking, Harbour or hospital, so you don't mix them up. I found the hospital one nicer. Book ahead, even in winter.
