Langahlid Cottages & Hot Tubs

We celebrated our 10th anniversary in the honeymoon cottage, and it was worth every penny. The cottages are lovely, with spacious rooms and well equipped kitchens, but the fjord and town views are what I'll remember most. The hot tub had the best view of any hot tub we've ever tried. Seydisfjordor was one of our favorite places in Iceland, and we loved every minute of our stay here.

The view is wonderful, and there are plenty of hiking options starting from the cottage. Francesca and her family were friendly, easy to reach, and happy to answer questions. Garbage was collected daily, and the jacuzzi was condoned. Thank you for letting us stay in this beautiful home.

The setting was peaceful and scenic, and the hosts were pleasant, responsive, and helpful. The cabin itself, though, needs much more attention. There was visible grime in the shower, one shower door was crooked and off its track, and the bathroom had no hand towel. The kitchen was missing a frying pan, oven mitts, dish towels, and drying cloths, so we had to improvise when cooking and cleaning. I also found a hair inside the fridge, and the outdoor table still had food left on it and looked dirty. Several things were frustrating to use: both the front door and bathroom door jammed and needed force. The lighting was just two sets of large overhead lights, which felt harsh, and with no curtains the evenings lacked privacy and comfort. The wall clock didn't work either. The kind hosts and beautiful location give the place a lot of potential, but it needs more care. A few simple fixes could make the stay much more comfortable.

The hot tub was lovely after all the hiking, and the cabin has a gorgeous view across the fjord. Everything inside was modern and worked well. There's a trail behind the cabin to a waterfall. We also drove a few kilometers to another trail with an even better fjord view, and if we'd kept going, we would have reached views into the next fjord.
