We spent two nights here in a two-person cabin during the first full week of August 2025. It was lovely, with a really scenic setting, and everything felt clean and pleasant. There was enough room, the water got hot, and I can't think of anything to complain about. Bakkaflot itself was a little confusing, though we only came back to sleep, so I can't comment on the rest of the place.

Klara was so kind and helpful to our group of about 40, including lots of children, and made everyone feel welcome. We had a cabin for some of the group, which was comfortable and still kept that outdoor feel. The spacious, well-kept camping area had a relaxed Icelandic countryside atmosphere, and the two pools were a real hit with the kids. Bakaflöt is a lovely local place with beautiful surroundings and warm service. We'd happily come back.

The cabin was the highlight of our Ring Road trip. It had its own deck, huge windows, and a lovely shower in the private bathroom, plus counters, a table, chairs, and two beams. We could park right beside it and unwind by the geothermal pools. We upgraded from the main house room, which was the usual guesthouse setup, small, with single beds, a sink, and shared bath and toilet.

We had a tasty dinner in the dining room, and the breakfast had cold meats and cheese, cereals, bread and spreads, plus some lukewarm porridge that was surprisingly good. The front desk lady also gladly pointed out some nice local walks on the maps. Our plain room was usable, with a sink, but showers were shared. There was no place for clothes, so living out of a case or backpack took up space we didn't have. For a group of 17 adults in our 30s to 50s, the place wasn't set up well for spending time together. After dinner around 8:30pm, we were asked to move on, but there wasn't another gathering space. The hot tubs closed at 9pm and the changing room doors were locked. We tried the upstairs landing seating, but our group was too loud for nearby bedrooms even without shouting. I can't judge the cabins, which we didn't see. I don't know the official star rating, but I'd call the main guesthouse a 2 star place and give it an okay 3 overall.

The room was roomy, the bed comfortable, and there was a sink. Breakfast was excellent, there were enough toilets for everyone, and the pools are outside. Lovely place, I'd come back :)
