Kast Guesthouse

The restaurant area is the only shared space, and it's just tables where you can feel in the staff's way. The food there was delicious, and breakfast was fine. The guesthouse was clean and practical, and its blackout curtains worked better than the ones at other guesthouses we stayed at on the trip.

Clean, roomy rooms with lovely views, pleasant staff, and a sweet kitty. Cozy and comfortable too, this was one of our better stays in Iceland.

Breakfast had lots of choices, with tasty marmalade and strawberry jam. There was a good range of tea, plus hot coffee and non-dairy creamer options. We arrived at 10:30 pm and were checked in right away. The blackout curtains were much appreciated at this time of year, when it's barely dusty-dark even at midnight. The beds were comfortable, and everything was very clean and tidy. It was overcast when we left the next morning, but on a clear day you can see the ocean from the front. We'd definitely stay again.

After dinner we got a really good night's sleep for the first time in ages. The mattresses were so comfortable, the room was dark, and it was quiet. The meal was delicious too, we had lamb and cake, with friendly, quick service from a nice Romanian girl. At breakfast, a lovely Czech girl served us; it was basic, but fine for us. We stayed in a triple room with a private bathroom at Kast guesthouse. It's a simple place with a basic breakfast, but when you're traveling all day in Iceland and just need somewhere cozy and comfortable for the night, it was perfect. We woke up to a beautiful view of dark mountains with clouds over their tops, which was an added bonus. I'd definitely recommend it if you're traveling around Snæfellsnes.
