Mid Hvoll Cottages

The setting is lovely, and the beach is only a short walk away. The cottages work well for two, but there were three of us, and the sofa bed was squeaky and uncomfortable.

We took a horseback riding tour from the farm to the black sand beach, and it was amazing, so much fun. The cottage was peaceful and comfortable, and we loved waking up to cows and sheep outside the windows. Being away from the city also made it a perfect spot to watch for the northern lights. We really enjoyed our night here and highly recommend it.

We could see the northern lights from the bedroom, and the cottage was clean. It was about 20 minutes from Vik, and we had access to a private black sand beach during our one-night stay. The view was lovely, but the beds were uncomfortable, so we didn’t get much rest. I’d choose somewhere else next time.

The cottage itself was fine, but the setting was the real draw. The beach is just a five-minute walk away and feels almost private, since there are no other access points. They also run horseback rides, including for kids. Our six- and three-year-olds got to ride on the beach and absolutely loved it. We stayed three nights and could easily have spent four or five, with so much to do nearby and regional highlights like Skogafoss, Reynisfjara, the famous black sand beach, and Vik within reach.
