The food was the standout for me. Lunch and dinner had lots of variety, generous portions, and some of the best cooking I've ever had. Compliments to the chef and team. The waiting staff knew their job and treated the three of us wonderfully. During my two or three days there in October 2024, I was also impressed by the spacious, clean, comfortable room, and room service did a lovely job each day. The pools and spa facilities were excellent. I loved the stay and hope to return, maybe brave enough to try a mud bath treatment next time. There were a couple of drawbacks. My room, 420Bis, got no hotel Wi-Fi at all. None of my devices could even detect a signal, perhaps because it was at the end of a long corridor and around a corner. The Samsung TV was a good make but rather small, wasn't wall-mounted, and was missing many channels. That needs looking into.

This does not feel like a traditional four-star hotel. I booked it for a wedding nearby, and the photos made the place look lovely, but I found them wildly misleading. I've added a few of my own below to show what I mean. There were so many issues to raise that I can't list them all here, including hidden charges and a lack of standard room items like tea, coffee, and an iron. When we asked about these things, the hotel wasn't helpful and just told us to go back to booking.com. Avoid it, there are better maintained hotels nearby.

I wrote this last year and only just realized it never got posted. The building itself is elegant, vintage, and really lovely, the kind of place you'd choose for a luxurious holiday. The staff were kind, professional, and made us feel comfortable. The front desk deserves credit, but the poolside bar service was badly handled for a four-star hotel. At 1pm, we called the bar three times from the pool and got no answer, so a kind receptionist in the main hall took our order. A waiter showed up at 1:15 and said it was coffee time, so they couldn't bring the food listed on the menu. He also said the only toast left was with raw ham or salami. We were hungry, so we agreed to wait twenty minutes for those. We returned to the bar area twenty-five minutes later, after relaxing in the pools, and found they hadn't even been prepared. He said we'd have to wait until after coffee time to eat. We asked for an appetizer too, Campari and Hugo with some chips, but those weren't ready either. We had a massage appointment at 2:30 and were wondering if we had time to find food outside the hotel when he finally said the toast was ready, but he hadn't had time to put it in the microwave. We sat at one of the bar tables. As he put the toast in, he said he had no time to check it and hoped it wouldn't burn. We eventually started eating at about 2pm, watching the time because of our appointment. He brought the Hugo and Campari with the toast but no chips, and served new customers who wanted coffee first. I understand they'd come from lunch and wanted quick service, but we'd waited an hour just to eat or even see our drinks. He'd written down my drink order, then still asked twice what I wanted. I don't know where that piece of paper went, hopefully not in the trash. The toast was finally ready, but the whole bar service was a mess.

We've stayed here twice now and will definitely come back. We love the hotel and the amazing food. The reception and restaurant staff are very nice, and the pools with their massage jets are top-notch.
