The Hoxton Florence

I loved the decor, and spending a sunny afternoon in the courtyard after sightseeing made the trip feel special. Most of the time it rained, though. The smaller room I booked felt roomy to me coming from NYC. It was a pleasant walk into the city center, far enough from the noise, and about a 10 cab drive from the train station. There are also neighborhood restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. Breakfast had a nice range, with a self-serve bar and eggs made to order. I enjoyed dinner at the restaurant, too. The staff were lovely, and I’ll try to stay here next time I’m in Florence.

Room service was only available from 12.00 to about 22.00, so that could be improved. Otherwise, the studio room was quiet, very clean and had a comfy bed. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. This is a cozy but hip place to stay in Florence, and the drink at the bar in the yard is worth having.

The lobby and garden are lovely to look at, and the location made it easy to walk to the attractions. Our room was classy, the bed comfortable, and the shower especially impressed me. Everyone on staff was polite and genuinely nice to talk to. They answered all our questions, even when we asked at odd times or thought they might sound ridiculous. We ate well at the hotel: I especially liked the breakfast buffet’s selection of vegetables and cheeses. Alassio was really nice for dinner, if a bit pricey, and the cocktails were just as good. The servers were patient and polite, too.

We arrived at 12.30am after a long airport delay, and the reception staff were exceptionally helpful and polite, which we really appreciated. Over our four nights in Florence, the breakfast team were also courteous and attentive, even putting up with my poor attempts at Italian. The bedroom was lovely and well equipped, and breakfast had a great selection. It’s a little outside the city centre, but an easy walk in. We had a fabulous stay with my wife and intend to return.
