Hotel Indigo Florence by IHG

We were glad to have such a clean, spacious room and a welcoming team. The hotel is right by the station, which worked well for our one-night stop between Rome and Switzerland. Just know that the walk toward the sights is long with luggage, and the road outside the station felt a little sketchy. We still enjoyed our stay.

The pool was open during this in-season visit, which was a lovely way to cool off, and ordering drinks or food by QR code while lounging there was easy. I’m back for my third stay, and the thoughtful design and comfortable, local feel are a big part of why Indigo has become my favorite IHG brand. Sergio, Marta, and the reception team are warm, responsive, and happy to help with requests.

The room was on the small side, but it was new, clean, and well cared for, with a balcony, air conditioning, and a firm yet comfortable mattress. The hotel itself is also nicely maintained. It’s about a seven-minute walk from Firenze Santa Maria Novella station, though you cross a couple of tram tracks and the pavement gets narrow, so luggage takes some care. Most main sights are an easy walk away. We arrived in the morning before our two rooms were ready. Sergio at reception made the wait a pleasant start: cheerful and welcoming, he arranged the rooms on the same floor next to each other while chatting with us. Other desk staff gave clear directions to nearby attractions and stored our luggage. They also helped us the next day when we were unsure which train to take to the Serie A match between Fiorentina and Udinese. Google Maps showed several choices, and the staff pointed us to the direct train to the stadium. We had a great stay and would gladly recommend it.

We made good use of the pool after spending the day in the city, and enjoyed the breakfast and evening drinks too. The station is a short walk away, with an easy stroll from there into the town centre. Our room was clean, had air conditioning, and included what we needed. Would happily recommend it.
