VILLA AGORà

The property is very run down, and the photos don’t reflect how it looks now. The grill was dirty; the owner said that was fine because the dirt would burn away when it was lit. There was mold in the children’s playroom, the table tennis table and bat were broken, and the small children’s pool table wasn’t suitable for adults. The football pitch was in poor shape, and there were no balls with us, so we had to go out and buy one ourselves. There was damp and fungus in the bathroom with the jacuzzi, and damp on the kitchen ceiling from the bathroom above. Tiles were loose all around the edge of the swimming pool, and the pool hadn’t been cleaned. The spa room and Turkish bath smelled very bad of fungus. The display was hard to see, some buttons didn’t work, and the bus by the spa room didn’t work. My in-laws’ bathroom had no hot water, and the pool towels weren’t changed. Cats screamed while we were trying to eat and jumped onto the outdoor kitchen table, so we had to keep the doors shut to stop them coming in. They were clearly there because we saw rats outside, including a dead one one morning. One day, when we came back, there was a young man in the grounds. Unfortunately, my 70 year old mother-in-law was left to deal with a rude and threatening owner when she was supposed to leave the house. He claimed water had been running all night, but there was no water in the outdoor kitchen when we went to wash the dishes after dinner. The next morning there was still no water. He said the water hadn’t been turned off in the algae-infected shower by the pool and had run all night, but there was no water at the shower or around it, which you would expect if 4000 L had run out. A 4000 litre tank was empty. My mother-in-law was forced to pay €250 of the €500 the owner said 4000 litres of water cost. The same amount would cost a maximum of DKK 200 in Denmark, and water isn’t more expensive in Italy. He said she wouldn’t get her deposit back unless she accepted this and signed. If I’d been there, you would never have treated a 70 year old woman this way. Total respect lost 😠😠
