Villa San Marco

The homemade farm breakfast was a highlight, and the care in all the details made Villa San Marco feel like a little sanctuary where history, nature, and warm hospitality meet. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. There were animals wandering around, peaceful gardens to stroll through, and ancient temples to admire while lounging by the pool. The setting is breathtaking, with beautiful views all around. A stay here feels like an experience in itself.

The breakfast was amazing, and everyone was so friendly and accommodating. You can see the temples from several spots on the property. Such a charming place, I’d definitely recommend it.

The outstanding breakfast came mostly from the property, and my son reckoned its hot chocolate was the best he’d ever had. He’s tried plenty! We’re a family of four, and the animals and peaceful almond groves really made an impression on the kids. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, and we hope to come back soon. This place felt different from anywhere else we’d stayed, but in a really fun way. It’s right next to the Valley of the Temples.

Breakfast was one of my favorite parts: vegetables, yogurt, fruit, homemade jams, eggs, all prepared with care, with the Valley of the Temples right behind it. The hosts made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived and were always kind, helpful, and happy to chat. In the afternoon they’d send the evening menu around, and if enough guests wanted dinner, they’d cook. We joined once. We’d hoped for a barbecue, but the plan changed to a vegetarian meal to suit other guests. It was fresh, homemade, and delicious, though we were still a little disappointed about missing the barbecue. There’s a fridge stocked with wine, beer, and soft drinks. You take what you want and pay later, based on the trust the hosts put in you. The pool is small, around 1.20 m deep, and fine for kids and a refreshing swim. The water was a bit cloudy while we were there, but it didn’t really bother us. The drive in is rough in spots but manageable. There are plenty of animals around: a donkey, pigs, chickens, peacocks, and several dogs. The dogs are friendly and relaxed, often lying by your table, and sometimes leaving a little pee behind. You have to be okay with a lively, rural setting. Our room’s older air conditioner didn’t work very well, though we heard some rooms have newer ones. Villa San Marco is a place with a lot of heart and character.
