Tervilla Residence

We were lucky to stay just one night. The place was awful: no real cleanliness or attention to comfort, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The French windows open onto a terrace but can't be shut, and the curtains, if you can call those hanging rags curtains, let in the early morning light. Then there's the shower, which was cold the whole time, with no hot water. I complained to the concierge on duty and asked to speak with the owner, who never showed up. Even if the price seems reasonable, avoid it. It's basically a dump.

We booked two rooms, and somehow each was worse than the other. There was no cleanliness, the beds were very uncomfortable, and the glass doors to the terrace had no shutters, so the light came in early. The curtains were just rags hanging there and didn't darken the rooms at all. The shower had no hot water either. I raised all of this with the concierge on duty. He apologized, but when I asked to speak to the owner, I was told the owner couldn't be reached. The property is in central Bagheria, but it doesn't feel like the historic center at all. Stay away, it's shameful.

There were two huge cockroaches in the hallway when I went out to the car. That was the last straw. Earlier, they'd put me in a double room with a French bed because nothing else was available. It was tiny and had hardly any natural light; the bathroom was completely wet. There was a refrigerator, but it was soldered shut and only there for show. The lamp's yellow top was coming unglued and looked like it had been there since 1900. We couldn't even find two pillows. Given the time, we found one in the closet, without a pillowcase. A nightmare, and I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

On a rainy day, water came in through all the French windows and flooded our room. They moved us from the fourth floor to the third, but the air conditioning there didn't work, and we couldn't open the window because it had no mosquito net. We also found a cockroach under the bed. This guesthouse, Tervilla residence, has the same ownership as the central hotel in Bagheria, and seems to have been left without maintenance. When I contacted the owner about the cockroach, he said these things can happen. He then moved us again, this time to the second floor. By then it was evening; otherwise, I would have packed up and left.
