Club Hotel Baja Sardinia

The setting is stunning, with a private beach behind the hotel and a public beach in front, and each has its own beautiful views. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom seemed to have been renovated recently. The price felt very reasonable for the quality. We chose the bed and breakfast option, and breakfast was better than expected. There was plenty of freshly prepared hot and cold food each morning. We had a fantastic stay at Club Hotel Baja Sardinia and would gladly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We’re still at the hotel, and I hope this doesn’t happen again. It’s a beautiful property, the room is nice and very clean, cleaning happens daily, and the women at reception are very friendly. But one person’s conduct on the beach has really affected our impression. We’d seen guests leave towels on sunbeds at night to claim them for the next day, so we did the same. In the morning, someone was already using the sunbed we’d saved. We took another one with towels on it, and a man, presumably the attendant, rushed over and said it was taken. I explained what had happened to our spot, but he just acted surprised and did nothing. It looked like VIP guests got their sunbeds personally reserved and guarded, while it was apparently fine for someone else to take ours. I don’t understand this policy. Many places have stopped the silly towel-reserving routine. The rule should be first come, first served. If the hotel allows reservations by towel, it should apply equally to everybody. I’m trying to be fair and I’m not condemning the whole hotel, but all guests should be treated equally. Either stop the practice or enforce it consistently for everyone, not just people who may have given the attendant money.

We paid more than €500 a night with breakfast, so being hassled about a €2 bottle of water felt ridiculous. There were three of us and we just wanted still water. I took a 750 ml bottle from the buffet to pour at the table, but staff said we couldn't unless we paid for it. Guests can only fill glasses at the buffet, and the way they told us was unnecessarily rude. Breakfast is included, but the service is terrible and feels cheap. The evening restaurant is fine, though it costs extra. Some staff are extremely rude, and the restaurant rules make little sense from a guest's point of view. On our last day, the restaurant put a lunch on our bill that we hadn't eaten. I find it hard to believe it was an honest mistake when almost all the guests are Italian. We speak English with them, so how did they confuse us with someone else? We had to show proof that we were on a boat tour that day. The sandy beach in the photos isn't the hotel's beach. Its own beach is about a five-minute walk away, down between rocks. It's rocky, slippery, and covered in seaweed. For the nice sandy beach, expect to pay €40 for two sunbeds and an umbrella. When we first walked into the room, there was a huge centipede because the sliding door has no insect screen. The rooms are clean, but the hotel feels a bit run down. They change the bed linen only every three days, supposedly for environmental reasons, yet the café smells like sewage in the evening. I honestly suspect waste is being discharged straight into the sea. Poor value for money.

The bay views at breakfast were lovely, and the location is spectacular. The hotel is a little dated, but our room was clean and functional, and we had a great stay overall. Parking was the main frustration: the hotel description said it was available, but there was none for us, and reception couldn't point us to another place in town. We eventually found free parking five minutes away on foot, but that wasn't good enough. The beach is very nice, though it's public with some hotel sunbeds on it, rather than a private beach. Still, with a location like this, I'd stay again.
