The photos make this place look much nicer than it is. It was dark except at night, smelly, and uncomfortable. There was an awful sewer or backed-up-toilet odor, mold all over the shower, dirty floors, and other guests' hair still in the bathroom. The kitchen was filthy with old food, and the sink was nearly broken. It was hot and stuffy, with no fresh air because the windows opened only onto an inner hall where construction was happening. There was no AC, just a heater or humidifier for some insane reason. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable, and the blankets looked old and dirty. A bright light shone in the hall all night, with no blinds or shades. The wardrobe wouldn't open, and one ceiling light was just an exposed bulb with bare wires and no cover. Do not stay here!

Bari Vecchia is right on the doorstep, the location is excellent, and there are locals all around, which made us feel part of the community. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the staff are friendly and helpful, always reachable on WhatsApp. But the room sits at the bottom of a shared staircase, so the noise gets really loud. People seemed to pass right by the bed, coming and going through much of the night. Unless you're a heavy sleeper, bring earplugs or you'll regret it. There's little ventilation, and it was hot inside even though it was around 25 degrees outside; I can only imagine it at 45. No exterior windows, and the layout makes the place feel like a prison cell. The TV was the worst I've ever seen: move a few degrees off-center and you couldn't see anything. From the couch or table, it might as well have been a radio.
