Hotel Eden

Breakfast and dinner by the lake were very good, and the rooms were clean and good, with an amazing lake view. The air conditioning was rather noisy, though, and the bathroom could have been a little bigger. It’s an old, charming hotel that’s been in the same family for almost 120 years, with great hospitality and very friendly staff. Free parking is available in a public lot about 100 meters away.

We stayed with our children, aged six and ten. Breakfast was excellent, and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is right at the port of Bevano, where you can catch the ferry to Isla Bella and Isla Madre. Parking was a bit tricky since we had to look for a free space in the city lots, and the ones near the hotel were usually occupied.

A small, clean, well-maintained hotel right by the lake, with a restaurant. The rooms are cozy and have air conditioning, and the service is great. It’s an ideal place to stay, especially if you get a lake-view room.

Room 64 on the third level was quite large and had magnificent lake views. It had a double bed and a separate room with three single beds and a soccer game table. The mattresses were pretty good, but the pillows were either too soft or too old. It was a bit hot when we arrived, and the small air conditioner cooled things reasonably well, though the kids’ room stayed warm. It was better the next day after we left the air conditioning running continuously. The Hotel Eden is in the center of the lovely village of Baveno at the Lago did Garda. The hotel is somewhat outdated, but its location and rich breakfast made up for a lot. There’s a small two-person elevator and a terrace on the lake side. There’s no hotel parking, so you have to find a public spot, which may mean a five-minute walk or more. Paid spaces in front of the hotel cost a little under 2 CHF an hour and can be used to unload and load the car. Water taxis for trips to the Borromean islands are only 100m away, and there’s a public beach about 500m away.
