Grand Hotel Dino

The room felt like a corridor turned into a bedroom, and the doors squeaked. The lighting system was complicated too. The hotel itself is beautiful, with an amazing lake view, but the heating was off in October, even though the temperature dropped to eight C overnight. We called reception and were told the heating system was off, so we spent a cold night. At checkout, a 5% tip was added without asking, which felt awkward. Being told checkout was at 11 am also seemed extremely unusual. Some staff need more hospitality training.

The top-floor two-level suite had a good view, and we had excellent pasta and dessert at the wine bar/trattoria. It's a huge hotel, so expect plenty of walking around. The air conditioning had been switched off to save electricity, though, so it could heat but not cool. Our room was hot and stuffy. Really, this feels like a conference hotel rather than somewhere for a romantic stay.

The place is so quiet and peaceful, and I was impressed by the hotel and its service. The food and wine were wonderful, the indoor pool was clean and warm, and the grounds were beautifully maintained. I can't imagine what it costs to keep everything at this level. We'd like to return in spring, but it looks like the hotel isn't taking reservations right now. Thank you for taking care of us.

For a hotel at this price, the little ways they penny-pinch feel totally unacceptable. There was no coffee in the room, just two tea bags, sugar, and a kettle. A tiny sachet of instant coffee cost 2 euros, and renting an umbrella was 20 euros a day. You can buy one around the corner for 5 euros. Maid service was hit or miss: on some days, used cups were left out and no paper cups were replaced. My wife's dressy leggings also went missing. The hotel is beautiful, and our room had an amazing lake view from the terrace, but those issues really spoiled the experience.
