Trastevere Urban Zen

In a week at Hotel Trastevere, the staff helped us with everything from directions and taxis to getting more shampoo, and I’m grateful for that. The rooms can be tight, but for us they were a place to sleep and get a pillow at night. Breakfast was put together each morning, with good espresso drinks made with care. You’re right in the heart of Trastevere, and most places of interest are within a 30-minute walk. The piazza behind the hotel is a nice place to start the day and take in the city. It can get noisy outside at night, but closing the window sorted that out. There’s no fridge or microwave, which probably shows my American expectations, and there’s a mirror in both the bathroom and main room. If you’re deciding between a hotel and an Airbnb, this is a good reason to choose a hotel. Go see the eternal city.

The hotel’s location is perfect, and we felt at home as soon as Olivia greeted us. The woman and man serving breakfast, whose names we didn’t catch, also took wonderful care of us. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

I wanted a small, locally run place in central Trastevere, and this hotel was just what I had in mind. The staff were charming and helpful, and my room was clean, cute, and comfortable, with a nice view of the plaza.

The staff really made a difference. We met four of them, and each was friendly and helpful. My wife especially liked Olivia, and the owner should be proud of the team. My family had a wonderful stay at Hotel Trastevere. The location is outside the busiest central Rome crowds, but still close enough to walk to the main sights. The Colosseum, Castel Sant'Angelo, Vatican City, and Trevi Fountain are each about 30-35 minutes away on foot. Breakfast was lovely, with a range of croissant flavors as well as bread, cereal, yogurt, fruit, eggs, meat, and cheese. Coming down the stairs into the dining room in the morning, the smell of fresh croissants and coffee was so good.
