We couldn't get any rest, so we left the next day. The owner was contacted by Booking.com, but wouldn't refund even two nights. I suggested the host spend a night there himself to see what it's actually like, instead of just talking about it. We don't recommend this place, and don't think guests should have to accept any conditions just because they paid in advance. The room is above a restaurant, with noise from slamming doors, pots and plates, and employees shouting until after midnight. There's no soundproofing. You can hear it from the corridor by the restaurant entrance and through the windows, where customers come out and chat on the sidewalk right in front. We think it's very bad that Booking.com doesn't mention the restaurant downstairs. The pictures showed a clothing store, so we booked four nights. When we raised the issue with the owners, they said the restaurant was there and noisy until 11 pm, and left us earplugs "so we can sleep better". We felt unhappy with the experience and that tourists were being misled.

We left the next morning, with three nights still remaining, and asked for our money back. The owner refused because we'd booked a non-refundable rate, and his attitude felt disrespectful. We were told about the restaurant only after paying, and found earplugs left in the room by the owner "for our own good". The apartment is directly above the restaurant, whose kitchen door opens into the building corridor. At night there was noise from pots, plates, cutlery, laughter, and loud conversations among employees, continuing past midnight. When we called the owner about it, he said he'd speak to the restaurant, but that the noise would go on late. I think the restaurant detail is deliberately left out of the apartment listing, and tourists shouldn't feel they have to accept any conditions just because the booking is non-refundable. We're not the only ones to complain about the restaurant noise, and I think people should know it's a major downside. We've traveled a lot and never had a problem with a reservation before. This was the first time anything like this happened to us.

A bit of street noise, but you get used to it. This charming studio has a kitchen and bathroom, and it's a short walk from the train station and the old town, with its pubs and delicious food. A good base for exploring Bergamo and Lombardy. Communication with the owner was excellent. Highly recommended!
