Right in the old town, this is a lovely place to stay, with high-quality accommodation, clean rooms, friendly staff, and an excellent breakfast. But charging an extra €70 for our daughter to share our bed felt excessive, especially since we’d booked a 2+1 room and already paid over €200 for one night. They didn’t offer an extra bed or sofa. There’s no public parking, though the hotel does offer its own for €30 a night.

The staff were friendly and breakfast was good. What makes this place special is how they worked the old ruins found during construction into the hotel and rooms’ contemporary design. Definitely worth seeing.

Those scrambled eggs at breakfast were the best I’ve had in ages, and the staff were really friendly. The rooms look smart, though the glass WC caused a bit of a stir with my man. I’d have liked an English-language TV channel. It’s a beautiful design hotel in the heart of Bergamo Citta' Alta, and I’ll definitely be back before the year is out.

The bar and restaurant are downstairs among visible ruins, with tasteful decor and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff were friendly, too.
