The three stars are about the location, not the accommodation or Mrs. Nunzia. She was very kind, and the place itself was clean, welcoming, fairly new, and well equipped. A few finishing touches were missing, like a chandelier, and the shower could use some updating, but those are minor things. We stayed for two nights after full occupancy made Matera difficult to book, and because we also wanted to see the sea during a possible vacation. The town felt a bit anonymous to us: there’s a main street, a small park and square, a little castle, and a few bars. It’s around 40 km from Matera and not especially close to the sea, so it depends what you’re looking for. There may be other attractions around, but I don’t know. I’d recommend the accommodation, though I wouldn’t pick it for a summer beach holiday, since you’d be driving at least half an hour each way every day.
