At Garisenda Lodge, we weren't warned that major work on the apartment building would start during our stay. If we'd known, we'd simply have booked somewhere else. Metal scaffolding went up on the facade, and the noise was incredible from 7:30am to 4:30pm. At one point, workers were right outside our windows. They apparently planned to install an alarm to detect anyone climbing the scaffolding after work hours, but we still didn't feel very safe. The works involve a complete makeover of the building facade, so I expect they'll go on for several weeks. We visited in the first week of September 2021, so keep this in mind if you're planning to stay at Garisenda Lodge this fall.

Everything worth seeing is within walking distance, and the train station is a 15-minute walk away. There are plenty of supermarkets, restaurants, and bars in the area. The pub on the ground floor means you can get home late without finding the alley deserted. The apartment is cozy and quaint, with excellent air conditioning and, I imagine, good heating too, given the insulation and radiators. It's competitively priced and has everything you could need. The one drawback is accessibility, with stairs at the entrance and inside. If that's not a problem for you, it's a great deal in a very central location.

I stayed here during Cersaie, or rather, I didn't sleep. The beer hall downstairs had patrons making a hellish racket until 3 a.m., so guests couldn't sleep. Out of desperation I went down there and, while talking to a waiter, found out the B&B and beer hall belong to the same person. I asked for and received a refund for that sleepless night. DON'T GO THERE, IT'S A REAL HELL.
