Studio Barca

The King Studio was nothing like its description, so don’t be taken in by the pictures. We expected a soundproof room with a double bed, sofa bed, plant, sheer curtains, and a kitchenette equipped with a kettle, coffee machine, kitchenware, stovetop, and cleaning products. The description also promised a flat-screen TV and microwave. Instead, there was a double bed and a single bed pushed together with no room around them, as well as a sofa bed. The bathroom door wouldn’t close. There were no plant or curtains, and the bathroom’s outside roller shutter was faulty. The kitchenette was made from metal unistruts and a bent shelf, more like a construction project than a working space. The stovetop was wedged beneath a counter on a tiny IKEA table, so you literally have to kneel to use it. No kettle or coffee machine, and the microwave was filthy, moldy, and missing its plate. We got one teaspoon and no cleaning products except a little hand wash. The TV was no more than 21 inches and had a smashed screen. A replacement, barely 17 inches, was sitting on a toolbox on the small table. The light switches didn’t work, leaving us with only a cheap standing lamp. There was no soundproofing: we heard passing vehicles as well as neighbors showering and flushing toilets. The advertised "free on-site parking" doesn’t exist. There’s a residential area nearby, and finding a spot in the evening is another matter. Alessandro, the person I had to deal with, was rude and completely unhelpful, and apparently isn’t the owner. He also commented on booking.com that I had confused this with another reservation. I did not. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
