Hotel Post Gries

The hotel was comfortable and quiet, with professional, top-notch guest service. It's well placed for the old town, either two bus stops depending on the bus, or about a 20-minute walk.

We never even got to stay there. Post Gries Hotel in Bolzano blamed us for a booking mistake that was entirely theirs, saying we had reserved for one person instead of three. They had confirmed the reservation earlier that day, during a phone call on 09/04/25 at 2:30 PM. We were left out in the cold with nowhere to stay. The staff member on the phone at 8:00 PM was arrogant and very unpleasant, muttering in German. Completely disgraceful and unprofessional. Do not trust this hotel.

For almost 200 euro a night, I expected better value, even though I admit I booked at the last minute. The rooms are small, have no view, and offer only very basic facilities. Breakfast was poor, just basic bread, scrambled egg, and yogurt, so don't expect much. The hotel says it's dog friendly, but the receptionist made a scene because I wanted to leave my dog alone in the room for a long time. I had to take my flat-nosed dog hiking in 28-degree heat. There's no restaurant for dinner, at least there wasn't on the Saturday and Sunday I was there, and there's no open bar. You can ask the night receptionist to get you something. There's very little around the hotel, so you have to take a bus or walk to get anywhere, and even reaching the buses means walking. Also, the keys are very heavy. You can leave them at reception, but if you might return after midnight, you need to take them with you. I won't come back or recommend the place.

The rooms were clean and breakfast was good, but the shower barely gave a few drops and kept swinging between freezing and boiling. We also had trouble arranging luggage transport and asked the lobby worker for help. He didn't lift a finger, just said problems with the company we hired were common and had nothing to do with him.
