Hotel Parigi

The seafront setting is the clear highlight, with a private beach and lovely views from the front. But the stay felt like a tourist trap, and possibly the most cynically run hotel I’ve experienced. At about €200 a night in May, our first room was tiny and very worn. It was described as having a sea view, which was technically true but misleading. A train passed the window every hour through the night, so we paid another €50 per night to move to an adequate room. The rooms are dated and poorly cleaned, and the showers seem to have a mind of their own. There was no tea or coffee setup or complimentary water. Instead, minibar bottles costing €0.30 were sold for €2.50. The restaurant food was edible, though neither special nor nicely presented, and didn't match the general quality of cooking along the coast. The service was remarkably bad. I felt more welcome at a McDonalds. They hurried me through dinner and cleared my water while I was still drinking; my espresso was practically thrown onto the table and spilled. There wasn't even a wine list, just a glass of some unspecified red. Breakfast was passable, but not good, and, as others have said, it runs out quickly. With a location like this, the hotel could be one of Europe's greats. Instead, the owners seem content with a cynical cash grab that leaves a sour taste.

The location is good and the staff are quite nice, but the upkeep is poor. Hot water kept cutting in and out, the bathroom door wouldn't shut, and the walls are so thin you hear everything from neighboring rooms. My room was at the back, advertised as a mountain view, but the train tracks were only 20 yards away and trains ran every 30 minutes. I couldn't sleep and wouldn't recommend it.

I enjoyed the stay, and the staff were super friendly. My single room faced the sea and had a fabulous view. It was nice, though it could use an update. The hotel beach is pleasant, but rocky. Breakfast is minimalist, and the coffee was okay. Getting started was a bit complicated: Google Maps struggled to find the hotel, and parking wasn't easy. The standard hotel garage isn't ideal for high-end cars. Thank you 😊

From our fourth-floor balcony, the Mediterranean view was fantastic. The location is perfect too, on a quiet pedestrian street just 10 meters from the beach. Breakfast was good. We tried half board for one day; it was okay, nothing more. The thin wall between rooms 409 and 407 was a problem. Someone in the neighboring room spoke loudly on the phone from 9 a.m. until late at night. We mentioned it to reception, but they said there wasn't much they could do. I strongly suspect she was a telephone salesperson.
