Hotel Hermitage

The location was great, with a ski shop next door for rentals and lesson bookings, and the lifts and ticket office about 100 yards away. Reception and restaurant staff made an effort to be helpful and engaging. Breakfast was OK, but dinner was very poor, with a very limited set menu. On two of the three nights we ate there, the food was badly warmed up. Thankfully, there’s a great bar next door with reasonable lunch options and a friendly welcome. The rooms were decent in size and kept clean and tidy. I’d only recommend staying here if you plan to eat out most nights.

The chairlifts are really close, and the family atmosphere was very polite and friendly. The owner was a hospitable gentleman and always happy to help. The chef, who looks like he could be from the Adams family, was a very nice man too. The place could use an update, though that’s what we paid for, even if it wasn’t cheap. There was also a smell like mulled wine or vinegar. After four days I got used to it, so I noticed it less unless I went out and came back in. Breakfast got very repetitive. They should separate the egg and bacon compartments, especially to help avoid contamination for vegetarians. On the bright side, they made fresh croissants every morning, and the chocolate ones were the best I’ve ever had!

The rooms are small and the furniture is old, but all the services were very good. The location is excellent, just a few metres from the chairlift. Breakfast was good, and dinner was excellent.

The ski lifts are very close, and the friendly staff give the hotel a really nice feel.
