We stayed at La Mainsone de Vacancies, and the apartment felt like stepping into an old Soviet-era building. The rooms were cramped, with low ceilings and very little light from two small windows and the shared balcony. The lamps were dim, and the outlets didn’t fit standard European plugs. There was black mold in the corners, especially in the narrow bathroom. The kitchen was tiny and dated, and there wasn’t enough hot water for four people to wash. The beds were hard and uncomfortable, though the sheets and towels came in plastic bags and seemed clean. The balcony shutters also banged loudly in the wind at night, and the lift looked dirty and didn’t feel trustworthy. It seemed like every expense had been cut. I wouldn’t pay more than €30 to stay here, and even then only if the conditions were decent.

The view was nice, but it couldn’t make up for how miserable the stay was. We had no hot water in winter, and so many things were broken that we refused to pay. The place felt like communist Russia. I’ve never stayed anywhere worse. The reviews below seem fake to me, since they say nothing about the rooms or the actual stay.

The rooms are tiny, the lift doesn’t work, and the electricity went out several times. Staff only speak Italian. It might look inexpensive at first, but they’ll add all sorts of random charges. I really can’t recommend it.

The beds were hard, the rooms and blankets dusty, and the single beds seemed poorly put together. Cooking was barely possible because the induction stove was so weak and slow it couldn’t even fry an egg. The staff were unfriendly, too. We were four, but the 70-liter water heater couldn’t provide enough hot water. We were warned the day before to keep showers short, and that proved true: after the first two people had showered for a few minutes, the others were left with freezing water. The sink and faucet also use the same supply, and it takes around three hours for the heater to refill. We were also asked to pay €100 in cash for checking in late. That charge wasn’t listed in the booking, and we only heard about it the day before arriving. We got there at 3:00 a.m. and had to pay. If we’d known earlier, we would have thought differently about the booking. Several important details like this weren’t made clear beforehand, and it really affected the stay. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
